Honda division sales up 9.2 percent, Acura sales up 18 percent

05/01/2012 – TORRANCE, Calif.

American Honda today reported April 2012 U.S. sales of 122,012 units, an increase of 10 percent based on the daily selling rate*. The Honda division posted April 2012 sales of 109,837, an increase of 9.2 percent compared to April 2011. Acura’s U.S. April sales of 12,175 were up 18 percent compared to April 2011.

- 2013 Acura RDX is fast out of the gate, with sales of the all-new SUV up more than 65 percent compared to same period last year.

- All core Acura models (TL, TSX, RDX and MDX) post double-digit increases compared to 2011, while MDX remains Acura’s best selling model.

- The all-new ILX compact luxury sedan goes on sale May 22.

“We’re delighted to see customers embrace the right-sized 2013 Acura RDX,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “It’s great to see so many new owners recognizing the remarkable combination of class-leading fuel economy, performance and luxury in our new SUV.”

Acura Announces March 2012 Sales
TSX up 15 percent

04/03/2012 – TORRANCE, Calif.

Acura today announced March 2012 new-vehicle sales of 11,166 units, a decrease of 14.6 percent compared to March 2011 based on Daily Selling Rate* (DSR). Year-to-date sales posted 30,805 units, down 4.3 percent compared to 2011.

The TSX reported 3,355 units, up 15.1 percent and the TL 2,923 units, down 29.4 percent. Total car sales reported 6,316 units, down 13.0 percent versus March 2011. The MDX was Acura’s best selling model with 3,755 sales for the month, down 12.0 percent. Total truck sales tallied 4,850 units, a decrease of 16.6 percent.

*The Daily Selling Rate (DSR) is calculated with 28 selling days for March 2012 and 27 selling days for March 2011.
**Year-to-date sales based are on 77 days for 2012 and 75 days for 2011.

MDX Leads Monthly Sales, But Car Sales Still Best For Acura

03/01/2012 – TORRANCE, Calif.

Acura’s line of sedans again led overall sales in February with 6,612 units sold, up 26.0 percent based on Daily Selling Rate* (DSR). While the TL performance luxury sedan was up 26.0 percent, the TSX sports sedan edged out the TL as Acura’s top selling car. Acura light truck sales were 4,646 (down 17.2 percent) led by strong sales of the MDX luxury SUV. Total monthly sales for Acura were 11,258 units (up 0.1 percent) while year-to-date** sales totaled 19,639 (up 2.6 percent).

“2012 is starting off strong for Acura,” said Jeff Conrad, Acura vice president of sales. “With a new RDX and an all-new ILX arriving in the Spring, Acura sales are expected to increase significantly.”

In February, Acura’s best selling car was the TSX sports sedan with 3,373 units sold (up 15.9 percent) which was a monthly record for February sales. The TL performance luxury sedan closely followed the TSX in sales with 3,211 units sold, up 26.0 percent.

The MDX luxury SUV once again remained Acura’s best selling model in February with 3,583 units sold, down 10.5 percent based on DSR. The RDX crossover SUV was Acura’s next best selling light truck with 1,007 units sold, a decrease of 28.1 percent.

Acura Announces January Sales Increase; TL Up 43 Percent
Acura sales up 5.3 percent

02/01/2012 – TORRANCE, Calif.

Acura posted January sales of 8,381 an increase of 5.3 percent compared to January 2011.

“With inventory still building to optimal levels, 2012 is off to a good start,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “After the successful launch of the RDX Prototype and the ILX and NSX Concepts at the Detroit Auto Show, strong January sales and the buzz surrounding Acura’s Super Bowl commercial, the Acura brand has real momentum going forward.”

Total car sales reported 4,582 units, up 24.1 percent versus January 2011, with the TL posting 2,283 units and the TSX 2,266 units, up 43.4 and 16.7 percent respectively. The MDX was Acura’s best selling model with 2,861 sales for the month, down 8.5 percent. Total truck sales tallied 3,799 units, down 11 percent.

MDX Again Leads Monthly Sales, But Overall Sales Still Led by Sedans

01/04/2012 – TORRANCE, Calif.

As a challenging 2011 came to a close, the MDX luxury SUV again led Acura monthly sales with 4,588 units sold, down 22.1 percent based on Daily Selling Rate* (DSR). Total monthly sales for Acura were 13,129 units (down 15.2 percent) while year-to-date** sales totaled 123,299 (down 8.0 percent).

“As we close the chapter on a tough year, Acura will start off 2012 strong with the debut of three all-new products at the North American International Auto Show, including the next generation NSX,” said Jeff Conrad, Acura vice president of sales. “Although we still had low inventory in December, our production levels are now back to normal. With a great line-up of products and all-new ILX and RDX models coming in the spring, 2012 will be a very good year for Acura.”

The next best selling Acura light truck was the RDX crossover SUV with 1,576 units sold, up 2.3 percent. Acura light truck sales totaled 6,250 (down 18.6 percent) while total car sales were 6,879 (down 11.9 percent).

Acura’s TSX sports sedan led December car sales with 3,546 units sold, down 19.3 percent. The TL performance luxury sedan was Acura’s next best selling car with sales with 3,283 units, down 0.2 percent.

MDX Leads Monthly Sales, But Car Sales Still Best For Acura

12/01/2011 – TORRANCE, Calif.

In a continuing trend, the MDX luxury SUV remained Acura’s best selling model in November with 3,308 units sold, down 24.2 percent based on Daily Selling Rate* (DSR). Acura light truck sales were 4,761 (down 17.3 percent) while total car sales were 5,148 (down 4.7 percent). Total sales for Acura were 9,909 units (down 11.2 percent) while year-to-date** sales totaled 110,170 (down 7.1 percent).

In October, Acura’s best selling car was the TSX sports sedan with 2,691 units sold which was a record for November sales. The TL performance luxury sedan closely followed the TSX in sales with 2,412 units sold, down 4.8 percent.

While light truck sales were led by the MDX luxury SUV, the RDX crossover SUV was Acura’s next best selling light truck with 1,326 units sold, an increase of 7.6 percent.

Strong TSX Sales Help Acura Sedans Edge Out Light Trucks

11/01/2011 – TORRANCE, Calif.

The MDX luxury SUV remained Acura’s best selling model, yet Acura sedan sales edged out light truck sales in October. Acura total car sales for October were 5,661, up 6.0 percent based on daily selling rate* while total light truck sales were 5,454, up 3.6 percent. Total sales for Acura were 11,115 units (a 4.8 percent increase) while year-to-date sales totaled 100,261— down 6.6 percent.

“Despite tight inventories, October sales exceeded last year’s strong pace,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “However, due to parts shortages related to flooding in Thailand, 2011 continues to be a very challenging year.”

In October, Acura’s best selling model was once again the MDX luxury SUV with sales of 3,691 units, down 2.8 percent. The RDX crossover SUV was Acura’s next best selling light truck with 1,632 units sold, up 27.6 percent.

With help from the new TSX sport wagon, Acura car sales were led by the TSX sports sedan with 2,977 units sold (up 37.3 percent) which is a new October sales record. Closely following the TSX in sales was the TL performance luxury sedan with sales of 2,662 units, down 9.1 percent.

Acura Announces September 2011 Sales Results

10/03/2011 – TORRANCE, Calif.

Acura posted September sales of 10,010, a decrease of 6.6 percent compared to September 2010, based on the daily selling rate*. Year-to-date sales totaled 89,146 units, down 7.9 percent versus last year.

“Despite challenges, Acura had a strong month,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “As inventory levels and vehicle logistics return to normal, we are confident sales will continue to improve for the remainder of the year.”

Total car sales were up 13 percent with TSX as the top selling Acura model posting 3,112 units, an increase of 37.9 percent compared to last year. The TL reported 2,507 sales for the month, down 0.3 percent. MDX sales totaled 2,925 units, down 28.3 percent, and were limited by weather-related shipping delays.
