Acura Canada 2011 September Sales Results

Posted by   on October 3rd, 2011 No comments

Acura News

Official release from Honda Canada:

Honda Canada Reports September Sales Results

MARKHAM, ON, Oct. 3, 2011 /CNW/ – Combined September sales of 11,109 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 19 per cent decrease over last year’s sales.  The Honda Automobile Division reported September sales of 9,468 units, down 22 per cent from last year. The Acura Division reported September sales of 1,641 units, up 12 per cent over last year.

“Although our Acura sales were up by 12 per cent in September led by near-record sales of the Canadian-built MDX and a 63 per cent increase in sales of the redesigned Acura TL, Honda sales were affected by a 21 per cent decline for Civic due to the shortage of key components from Japan for the new Civic,” said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc.

“While most of our vehicles have been at full production for about a month, our top sales volume model – Civic – is just now returning to full production, leaving a huge backlog in our dealers’ inventory.  October and November supply of Civics will steadily improve, in time for Canadians to take advantage of some of the best value propositions for Civic ever offered, in addition to similar programs for the entire Honda and Acura lineup.”

Honda Canada Inc. has sold more than 3.4 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada since 1973.  More than 97 per cent of Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in September were produced at the company’s assembly plants in North America, up from 95 per cent for the same month last year.
