A Look at the 2016 Acura ILX Aero Kit

Based on these images of a fully accessorized 2016 Acura ILX, I’d have to say this Aero Kit is one of the most aggressive designs Acura has ever offered.

What makes this kit unique is the addition of black, or “carbon fiber” sections on the front and rear underbody spoilers. It’s the first time Acura has used these type of dark accents so prominently, and on lighter colored cars the contrast will be striking. I’m doubtful that the pieces will actually be carbon fiber, but they do seem to have a different texture or pattern that is distinguishable from the rest of the body-colored attachments. To me the front bumper styling is very BMW M3ish, and that’s a good thing for those looking for an aggressive sporty look.

Rendered: Acura CDX Crossover

Recent news of a potential small crossover model from Acura has prompted Russian automotive website DRIVE.RU to create this rendering of the Acura “CDX”.

There really isn’t too much to the rendering, it simply places the whole front end of the 2016 Acura RDX onto the body of the Honda HR-V and adds some new wheels. It does however give us an idea of how the newer Acura styling traits would look with the compact proportions of the HR-V platform. Of course, if Acura did create its own version of the HR-V, we’d expect significant upgrades both inside and out to distinguish itself as a premium vehicle.

New Acura Crossover to be Named CDX?

A recent trademark filing by Honda suggests a future Acura crossover could be named the “CDX”.

Based on Acura’s current nomenclature, the “DX” suffix would signify a crossover vehicle, likely an entry-level model below the RDX and MDX.

Recent articles have mentioned Acura’s interest in a small crossover model based on the same platform as the new Honda HR-V/Vezel, and if you consider that Acura debuted the SUV-X Concept in 2013, I’d say an Acura “CDX” could be coming very soon.
