Acura in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Acura in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Will Acura return as the official vehicle of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the upcoming Avengers spin-off Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Playing off the success of last year’s blockbuster The Avengers, a television series based on the agency S.H.I.E.L.D. lead by Agent Coulson is set to debut this fall on ABC. You may recall Acura has previously partnered up with Marvel in past films, providing vehicles for the agents and creating exposure for the brand.

Though no official announcements have been made, the S.H.I.E.L.D. MDX and TL make clear cameos in the recently released Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer seen below.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is expected to premiere fall 2013 and will air Tuesdays at 8:00 pm on ABC.

Acura TL Gets Avengers Artwork by Humberto Ramos

Posted by   on January 25th, 2013 No comments

Humberto Ramos Avengers Acura TL

We’ve seen the Acura TL in Marvel’s film The Avengers, but with this special car, we see the Avengers on the Acura TL. Clearly this isn’t a S.H.I.E.L.D. Edition Acura TL, this one of a kind TL features Avengers character artwork hand-drawn by talented comic book artist Humberto Ramos. Working from an Acura Mexico dealership, Humberto spent the past few days applying his creative touch to the vehicle’s exterior. With Humberto’s distinct artistic style, the black “inked” characters look amazing stretched across the sides and on the front hood of the white Acura TL.

Hopefully there will be additional info and photos to come, but if you’re looking for a better view of the artwork, check out the video below.

Acura in Deleted Scene of The Avengers

Captain America/Steve Rogers and the 2013 Acura RDX

Captain America/Steve Rogers and the 2013 Acura RDX

If you loved Marvel’s The Avengers like I did, you’re probably going to see it again when it is released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on September 25, 2012. You’ll get to replay all your favourite scenes and get a better look at some of the Acuras you may have missed the first time around.

If you don’t remember the scene with the Acura RDX in the above screenshot, it’s not because you weren’t paying attention. It’s actually part of a deleted scene about Steve Rogers/Captain America that was cut from the theatrical release. It also would have been one of the clearest and most obvious Acura placements of the film. Thankfully, and to the delight of Acura and Avengers fans, the 3-minute clip will be revived and added to the extended DVD release.

The scene itself is rather interesting, revealing how Steve Rogers is forced to quickly transition into the current time. As he walks through a busy Manhattan street, he passes an Acura dealership and glances over at a new 2013 RDX behind a really cool, high-tech glass display.

Judging by the reaction online, many viewers loved the scene and agree it never should have been cut in the first place. You can see it September 25th on the Blu-ray Disc and DVD release of The Avengers, but if you can’t hold out, have a peek at some screenshots or watch the full deleted scene below.

Acura’s Advanced Screening of The Avengers

Marvel's The Avengers

Marvel’s The Avengers – In Theatres May 4th

Acura hosted special advanced screenings of Marvel’s The Avengers this past week in select cities across Canada and the US, and if you were a lucky Acura owner in attendance, you already know how awesome this movie is.

I was fortunate enough to receive a pair of passes to the Edmonton event tonight courtesy of West Side Acura. It was an Acura mini-meet as owners filled the lot to see the Avengers assemble on screen. My good friend and Acura enthusiast Marty Quon even brought his car out of hibernation for the summer, arriving in his mint 2004 Silverstone NSX. Attendees who weren’t rushing in for seats were able to stop and check out the 2013 ILX parked out front, and I finally got to see the production ILX for the first time since I saw the concept debut in Detroit.

Acura guests were able to redeem their tickets for free snacks and received a goodie bag containing an Acura pamphlet, Avengers poster and key chain. Before the movie started the audience was presented with a few Acura promo videos and commercials. I’ve seen the NSX Concept intro about a hundred times, but it felt like a whole new experience seeing it on the big screen.

After all the trailers, posters and hype for The Avengers these past few months, you’re probably wondering if it was worth the wait. Superheroes coming together to save the world, we’ve seen it done before. This one just has a bigger cast of characters right? While it’s true the premise does sound cliche and the film does contain a huge all-star cast, The Avengers still manages to live up, and even exceed all the hype. Somehow even with six prominent superheroes, they were able to successfully create a genuine and compelling storyline where each character was able to shine. Let’s not forget there’s still also Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Hill and Coulson, and the antagonist Loki who played an excellent villain.

Though it may make you feel like a kid again trying to decide which superhero is your favourite, you don’t need to be comic book fan to enjoy this one. There’s non-stop entertainment and fun for all ages, so don’t miss out on the biggest blockbuster of the summer. Marvel’s The Avengers hits theatres May 4th.

Robert Downey Jr. Drives the Acura Sports Car

In true Stark fashion, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey made a grand entrance yesterday as they arrived at The Avengers Red Carpet World Premiere at the El Capitan Theatre. Escorted by an Acura S.H.I.E.L.D. convoy, the couple rolled in with the vehicle most of us Acura fans were hoping for, the stunning open-top “NSX” Concept. Even with Robert Downey Jr. in the drivers seat, I think it’s fair to say the Acura Sports car caught its fair share of attention.

You can see the arrival in two short clips I’ve attached below.
