It’s race week in Austin, Texas! With the Acura brand returning to Formula 1 at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, we’re taking a look at some of Acura’s past collaborations with Honda F1.
There were five drivers who have previously worn the Acura helmet visor, all are grand prix winners, and three of them are world champions. Let’s start at the beginning:
Alain Prost with McLaren-Honda | 1989 United States Grand Prix, 1989 Canadian Grand Prix
Ayrton Senna with McLaren-Honda | 1989 United States Grand Prix, 1989 – 1992 Canadian Grand Prix
Gerhard Berger with McLaren-Honda | 1990 – 1992 Canadian Grand Prix
Jenson Button with Honda | 2007 Canadian Grand Prix
Rubens Barrichello with Honda | 2007 Canadian Grand Prix
This weekend we can add four more F1 drivers to the list: Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda. Three of them are already grand prix winners, and hopefully there’s a future world champion among them!
