The high-performance Integra that you’ve all been begging for is on its way. Acura has confirmed that the Integra Type S is in development and is scheduled to arrive next summer as a 2024 model.

Acura hasn’t provided much in terms of specs, but we do know that the Integra Type S will be getting a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing over 300 horsepower, mated with a 6-speed manual transmission and limited slip differential. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the Integra Type S will likely be similar to its cousin, the new 6th-generation Honda Civic Type R, so it’s a good bet to assume front-wheel-drive with a power output of at least 315 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.

Acura also revealed photos of a camouflaged Integra Type S prototype at Honda’s test track in Tochigi, Japan. From what we can see the Integra Type S will retain the 5-door liftback bodystyle, but will benefit from a new aggressive front fascia, and a restyled rear bumper with a new diffuser design and centered triple exhaust outlets. I think we can also make out some flared fenders, which should increase overall width to accommodate wider tires. Oddly, there isn’t much of a rear spoiler on this prototype, which is a bit of a surprise when you consider what the Civic Type R offers.
