It’s a beautiful design but the price point is way too high (I would buy a GTR or Porsche). Of course, perhaps Honda doesn’t want to produce the NSX to sell but just to cast its halo glow over the brand’s rather bland brand identity. Of course my Audi TT gets up to 35 mpg, has AWD, and hits 60 in just a tic over 5 seconds, so perhaps I’m not sure from what source the halo is getting its light in the first place.

As a 1991 NSX owner, I’ve been waiting for this New NSX for the last 6 years. All I can say is the Acura NSX is the “Perfect” sports car. The car is well-balanced in ALL sportcar measurements, except that it is relatively inexpensive to maintain vs it’s competitors. Costs of maintaining a supercar is where the NSX is King! Even at the projected price, this exotic supercar is a bargain, especially if you are a keeper. According to current specs, it will be more powerful and lighter than the previous version, and will include a dynamic All-Wheel drive system and a 7-speed auto with paddle shifters. I’ve already place a deposit at my local dealer, #7 on their list. CAN’T WAIT!

All I gotta say is that Honda better not pull a Nissan and only make an automatic option available. I need my stick shift and clutch petal, damnit!

Considering Honda’s mistakes over the last 15 years, namely, their refusal to *learn* from them, Honda will do exactly the same thing again. They’ll price the very likely excellent NSX at a ridiculous $140,000, sell a handful over three years, refuse to update any bit of it, then sit back and scratch their heads when nobody gives a crap about it anymore, while the public still regards their entire lineup as boring appliances. A “halo” car, i.e. a “Crown,” will only do so much and when the wearer is lackluster, the Crown becomes similarly so. Acura can’t expect the NSX to make their other cars exciting; they can only expect THEMSELVES to make their lineup exciting by adding what the public wants: Horsepower. They’ve already got the refinement down, now all they need is to inject some freaking horsepower and call it a day. It’s what Infiniti did, and Nissan is rounding off the glittering Christmas tree with the GTR, which itself isn’t ridiculously priced.
Just look at the RL. It’s gone through enough cycles lacking what the public wants (HP), and yet Honda still refuses to add a simple V8. Man, even the Koreans got it with the Genesis, and now it’s too late for Honda to catch up with their own V8. Honda is bizarre. We’re talking about a company that refused a request from McLaren to install one of Honda’s V12s in their McLaren F1, because they were focusing more on their NSX. What would I do with my money? Porsche Turbo or Audi R8. No NSX for me, GLHF!

You should do more research. The Honda Accord and civic have been two of the best selling cars in the world for over a decade. As far as a V8, the s2000 will outperform many V8’s with its I4 because Honda knows how to produce a strong engine, not just a big one. And even the Acura TL outsold every other luxary sports sedan except the BMW 3 series in 2004, and will out perform Audi A4s, Jag XJs, Mercedes C classes, and a lot of the BMW 3 series just to name a few other vehicles in its class. So perhaps they don’t build Bugattis, but I would say Honda has a pretty good handle on their business. Good day sir.

I am 100% with you on that……I dont see why Honda cant put v8’s into their cars…A company who builds f1cars with v8’s and they are so damn conservative. If Honda dosent want to put a V8 into their honda cars fine….but Acura needs some new entry v8 model… The new 2013 Acura RLX…since if you want to say that is “new” entry vehicle, though its really the replacement for the RL, they couldve introduced a v8. Not only Honda dosent use v8’s but they are so damn hooked on FWD…..If you are going to have a flagship vehicle dont make it a FWD, or at least have a FWD option The SH-AWD is ok. You have competitors such as Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS which is flasgship vehicles with V8’s and RWD. One more thing Honda never does in put forced induction into their cars. By doing that Honda couldve made the NSX a twin turbo v6 like the GT-R and delete this dumb hybrib shit. NSX was an damn RWD car! not an AWD car.

Well the new RLX is supposed to be sporting the hybrid system which boasts 370 hp, which isn’t too bad compared to what it is now. Also Honda has remained adamant about lowering they’re fuel efficiency and quality above many things. I’m as much of a gear head as the next guy, but the future really is in hybrid technology whether we like it or not. And kudos to Honda for sticking to its values, however convoluted they may seem to everyone else. Furthermore, installing a giant V8 to Acura right now just doesn’t make sense. I mean, how can you justify stepping in with a huge engine when oil prices are skyrocketing? it just doesn’t make sense from an economic stand point, although i think they are in desperate need of an image boost.

Perhaps the nsx is marketed as a Veblen good? The more expensive it is and limited in production the more it will appeal to that market.

U guys fail to realize Hondas path… U are all thinking backwards while honda continues forward… And u wonder why…. Finally putting an end to forced induction!!! Electric motors that put power to the wheels where it’s needed. Trust me Honda knows what the hell they are doing… Turbos are blind!!!! The gt-r is the best u can ever a turbo and this new technology blows it away!!! Hahahahahahaha go Honda!!!!

The people that are knocking on Honda for not putting v8 in their cars are jelous because Hondas v6’s are eating v8’s and getting better mpg. I can’t wait until this car comes out. It’s gorgeous!!!!

The new automatics shift faster and get better gas mileage than any professional driver can do with a stick….although i am also a “traditionalist”, so to speak, as far as stick goes, the future lies with auto’s whether we like it or not….the only reason for having a stick now is for the thrill of shifting gears, because the days of its efficiency are now over….

AS A V8 ENTHUSIAST AND LONG TIME MECHANIC I MUST SAY THAT I DONT LIKE THE IDEA BEHIND A V6 FOR A “SUPER” CAR ESPECIALLY WITH ELECTRIC MOTORS AS THEY MAY BE MORE EFFICIENT BUT EVERYONE FORGETS THE DURABILITY SIDE OR THE COST TO MANUFACTURE OR REPAIR THESE TYPES OF MOTORS HOWEVER I CANT SAY THAT A BOOSTED V6 WOULDNT WORK AMAZING ANY ONE REMEMBER THE BUGGATI EB110 IT WAS A TWIN TURBO V6 GOT GOOD MILEAGE FOR ITS DAY AND WAS HELLACIOUSLY FAST ONLY DOWN FALL WAS ITS PRICE TAG BUT NOW WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO BUILD A “SUPER” CAR WITH A DECENT PRICE TAG AND HONDAS FIX IS SOME JUNKY ELECTRIC MOTORS THIS VERY WELL MAY TURN OUT TO BE A WONDERFUL CAR BUT YOU WOULDNT FIND ME DRIVING IT AND CALLING IT A “SUPER” CAR.

As an owner of 3 NSXs, 91, 02 and currently 05, I look forward to a new and exciting NSX! This concept car is beautiful and I’m sure Honda has been doing their homework on bringing this new baby to market. I can’t wait!

$130,000 is a very fair price.

    Lets compare,

    Ferrari F430 – 483 Horsepower, $250,000
    Acura NSX – 480 Horsepower, $130,000

Ferrari F430 – Rear wheel drive only
Acura NSX – All Wheel Drive (faster take off)

    Ferrari F430 – 11mpg
    Acura NSX – Estimated 30mpg

    Ferrari F430 – 0-60 in 4.3 seconds
Acura NSX – 0-60 in 3 seconds (estimated)

So yeah, you’re getting your fun with this car. Can’t make a final judgment on it until it’s released to the public and there has been review videos and it’s actual been drivin’. But on paper, this car seems cheap for its value. If it was called Ferrari, it would sell for $250,000 no problem. But since it’s Acura you guys think it’s over priced? It’s a Super Car. Not a sports car.

Too expensive. I prefer a Shelby 2014 all day long and I can get two Shelbys for the price of one NSX or one GTR nissan.

Wes, the Accord and Civic may very well be top selling cars, but Honda has rested on its past success and has not improved the cars much over the years. I drove a ’92 Accord for many years before I switched to BMW’s. The Accord then went to my son who drove it for another 7. But looking at new Accords or Civics a few years ago I was very disappointed. MPG is worse than I got on the ’92 and the price tag was ridiculous. The dealer blamed it on the government requirements. Bull crap!. The Honda engineers got lazy and didn’t improve. Same can be said for Subaru. My family use to drive Subarus and my very first new car was a BRAT. I won’t seriously consider a Subaru today because they are expensive and the fuel economy sucks. BTW, I regularly get 30 to 33 mpg in my ’01 525 on the highway.

Lol 5 seconds? Thats slow, old nsx did that without a v8 or awd.

Nsx never was about speed it was about precision and agility. Doesn’t take a v8 to make a car agile, but SH-AWD enhances agility. Wait til you see this nsx on high speed corners, hairpin exits, and its corner exit speed! Muscle car dudes don’t even know what high speee cornering is lol.
