Motor Trend: Spotted! 2014 Acura MDX

There’s a new batch of 2014 Acura MDX spy shots floating around the web, now with even less camouflage! The latest news and photos come via Motor Trend.

From the shots we see that the next generation MDX retains a similar body shape, but gets new front styling and an updated Acura grille like that found on the 2013 RDX and ZDX. A closer look reveals what could be Acura’s new Jewel Eye™ LED headlamps, which is expected to first appear on the production 2014 Acura RLX. Reports suggest the 2014 MDX will get Honda’s new direct-injected EarthDreams V6 and the new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® system.

This whole hidden exhaust theme is just lame. The bare exhaust pipe is still visible from the rear pointing downwards, like some barebones econobox that couldn’t afford a polished tip.

Other than the new NSX, Acura design seems to be going further downhill with awkward rear fender humps, uninspiring cookie cutter headlights, lots of interior part sharing (steering wheel, hvac controls), boring gauges, and plain door panels without wood/aluminum trim.
