For 15 years, the Monterey Bay Peninsula has been home to one of the world’s premiere car shows. “Car Week” festivities span a 10-day period each August and are capped off by an event at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California. Known as “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering,” this automotive event is more than just your everyday cars & coffee. It’s a feast for the eyes, ears, and tastebuds with most of the 200-some odd featured cars valued at well into six-figure price tag range (and many in the sevens). Five different, regionally-themed food & drink pavilions are set up along the lush golf course grounds.
Acura, as a major sponsor, chose this backdrop as the perfect place to unveil its striking “ARX-05” prototype racecar, built in partnership with Team Penske and set to debut at the Rolex 24 race in Daytona in January. An exclusive reveal pre-party was held on the grounds of the Carmel Valley Lodge leading up to the day of The Quail, with celebrities including Jay Leno in attendance, as well as representatives from media outlets and executives from both Penske & Acura. Acura’s flagship RLX luxury sedan had some time in the spotlight as well, newly refreshed for the 2018 model year and looking exceptionally sharp in its metallic red.
