Acura Podiums at 100th Running of Pikes Peak Hill Climb

June 27, 2022 — Colorado springs, CO

  • Nick Robinson pushed his production-spec NSX Type S to a third-place finish in the Exhibition Class
  • Top-10 finishes for the 2023 Integra and TLX Type S
  • Acura has earned a podium finish at Pikes Peak for 10 consecutive years

Conquering adverse weather conditions, Acura engineers earned four top-10 finishes and a podium in the centennial running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this weekend. This marks Acura’s 10th consecutive year earning a podium finish at America’s longest running hill climb event, and 26th podium overall for the all-volunteer race program.

Pikes Peak veteran and current FWD Record holder, Nick Robinson led the team with a 3rd place finish (14th overall) in the highly competitive Exhibition Class. His production-spec NSX Type S completed the 12.42-mile course in 11:14.683. Justin Lumbard posted an impressive 11:31.123 in his TLX Type S, for a 6th place finish in the Time Attack 1 Class. A second TLX Type S, driven by Jordan Guitar, finished 7th in the Exhibition Class with a time of 12:10.740.

Making its racing debut, the 2023 Integra driven by rookie Paul Hubers finished 9th in class, with a time of 13:06.931. One of the first cars to run the mountain, Hubers battled thick fog and slippery conditions as he navigated his way up the 156-turn course. Current Hybrid record holder, James Robinson withdrew his NSX Type S prior to running with an electrical issue.

The Acura engineers competing at Pikes Peak volunteer their time, using the opportunity as a test bed for new Acura performance technologies. It is also a chance for the company’s engineers to further sharpen their performance-focused driving and engineering skills. The volunteer engineering team is responsible for all aspects of competition, including the development of race cars, event prep, crew support and navigating race cars to the finish line.
