Acura Hybrid Models are Coming Soon

In case you missed the news, it was reported last week that Acura will begin to reintroduce hybrid models into its future lineup.

According to The Drive and Edmunds, Acura management has confirmed that it has now shifted its strategy to include hybrid models and longer-running internal combustion models.

“We will max production of ICE and hybrid models to meet the needs of our customers in North America. This means extending key ICE models and adding hybrid products. Our strategy to invest in flexible production in our EV hub in Ohio is proving very smart. This will enable us to make ICE, hybrid, and EV models on the same production lines, and adjust production fluidly based on customer demands.”

This retracts their statements from 2021, in which Acura said it would skip hybrids and move straight from gas to an all-electric lineup.

Acura hasn’t specified which models will receive hybrid options, but the company is considering both introducing all-new models and adding hybrid powertrains to existing ones. Previously, Acura has offered only four hybrid models: the second-generation NSX, the MDX Sport Hybrid, the RLX Sport Hybrid, and the ILX hybrid.

While Acura is placing renewed emphasis on hybrid technology, it remains committed to its electric vehicle development, starting with the launch of the new RSX SUV, which is scheduled to go on sale in 2026.
