Just before the holidays Lyle B. and his 2019 Acura MDX A-Spec set out for a 3000-mile journey through the Pacific Coast Highway and 4 national parks, spanning California, Arizona and Utah. A few weeks later he’s returned with some extra mileage on the MDX and an adventure to share:
“I started in the Bay Area, went to Tahoe, down HW 395 by the Sierras, through Death Valley, across to Zion, down to the Grand Canyon, through Mojave and Joshua Tree, then to LA and up PCH all the way back to the Bay. (If anyone cares, I averaged 21 mpg, but lots of mountain climbs and slow driving on gravel roads).
The MDX was a true road warrior, never missing a beat, over snow, mud, gravel and through rain, desert, canyons and miles of highway. On many nights, I folded the seats down and slept in the back. My vehicle was almost new when I left, with only 600 miles on the clock. The road trip was a bonding experience. I love this thing!”
We’re really loving the look of the new MDX A-Spec coupled with the sleek Thule cargo box – it’s a skier’s dream machine! Here are a few more details from Lyle:
Thule Hyper XL roof box. Yakima Slimshady awning. 2019 A-Spec, with Acura running boards and painted splash guards. Front side windows tinted to match the rear windows. 3M film on front clip. Ceramic Pro to protect the paint. 275/45/20 Bridgestone Blizzaks for the snow. Which I hit today on the first day of my two week road trip.
Check out some of these beautiful photos from the trip!
