Honda has announced they will debut an electric concept called the Honda Specialty Sports Concept, at next month’s Japan Mobility Show 2023, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show:
The concept model of an electric sports car which will enable the driver to experience the pure joy of driving (driving pleasure) and transcend the constraints of time, even in the era of electrification for carbon neutrality and the popularization of automated driving technology. The joy of driving and distinctive individuality of this model will enable people to transcend their everyday life.
Development of new electric sports models were mentioned last year with Honda stating they plan to introduce two sports cars, a specialty and a flagship model.
Last month Acura also teased images of their Electric Vision Design Study, which previews the styling direction of Acura EV performance.
Could the Honda Specialty Sports Concept be our first look at Honda’s next-generation EV supercar(NSX?). Based on the name, my guess is that it’s not the flagship supercar, but rather the “specialty” sports model mentioned in last year’s press release. Some have speculated it could be the electric successor to the S2000, which would be the next best thing.
We’ll have to wait and see, Japan Mobility Show press days take place October 25-26.
