- Acura NSX GT3 Evo racers have won at each GT weekend of 2019
- RealTime Racing moves from fifth to second in standings with wins
- Racer’s Edge Motorsports scores pair of podiums to maintain series lead
Each weekend of the 2019 SRO Blancpain GT World Challenge America season has seen an Acura NSX GT3 Evo in Victory Lane in the ProAm class, and this weekend’s double header event in upstate New York followed suit as Dane Cameron and Mike Hedlund stormed to a pair of class wins at Watkins Glen International Raceway.
The RealTime Racing Acura NSX GT3Evo dominated the ProAm weekend, getting its third and fourth wins of the season. The Acura team’s orange and white #43 NSX GT3 Evo is now firmly in the title hunt, despite having missed the season’s opening weekend at Circuit of the Americas in March.
Hedlund started from the outside of the front row, second, in Saturday’s opening race and quickly dispatched class pole qualifier Anthony Imperato to take a lead that the team would not relinquish. At midrace, Hedlund handed the driving reins to Cameron, who ran away to a 15-second ProAm victory over the Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 of Imperato and co-driver Colin Braun.
Sunday’s race was more of the same for the RealTime squad. Hedlund and Cameron ran in the top five overall for much of the race, outdistancing the Racer’s Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Kyle Marcelli and Martin Barkey by more than 20 seconds to seal the weekend sweep for RealTime and a 1-2 result for Acura.
In Saturday’s opening race, Barkey and Marcelli finished less than a second behind the Wright Motorsports Porsche for a third-place result. Combined with Sunday’s runner-up finish, the two ProAm podium results kept the Racer’s Edge Acura NSX in the ProAm championship lead with four races remaining in the 2019 season.
The Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Till Bectholsheimer and Marc Miller started their weekend off with a sixth-place run on Saturday before rebounding to finish fourth in Sunday’s nightcap.

Quotes
Mike Hedlund (#43 RealTime Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo) on Saturday’s ProAm class win: “My main goal was to start clean and I didn’t want to get us in trouble early, so I took the outside and was able to get around (Anthony Imperato) to take the lead. The RealTime guys did a perfect job on the pit stop and we had a clean driver change plus the lead.”
Dane Cameron (#43 RealTime Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo) following the weekend sweep for the team: “It think [winning the Pro-Am class championship] is a bit of a stretch, but we’re having fun trying to win races for Acura and RealTime. We’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing, try to win races and we’ll see how it shakes out.”
