Snapshot: 2015 Acura ILX vs 2016 Acura ILX

2016 Acura ILX

Automobile Magazine Editor Joey Capparella tweeted this side-by-side comparison photo of a 2015 ILX and a 2016 ILX.

“The new headlights and grille really do improve the 2016 ILX’s front end compared to the old model #2016ILX #Acura

While the 2016 model does look like the fresher design, I still admire the older model for its simpler and refined styling. To me the changes are similar to how Acura updated the TSX from 2005 to the MMC 2006 MY. I still prefer the front of the 2005 TSX.

Rendered: Acura ILX with Jewel Eye Headlights and Mods

Acura ILX Jewel Eye Headlights Acura ILX Jewel Eye Headlights Acura ILX Jewel Eye Headlights

Jewel Eye LED headlights have become a distinguishing feature on all of Acura’s newest models, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were integrated in an ILX mid-cycle refresh for the 2015 model year. The impressive renders above from AcuraZine members usdmJON and Timmy18 give us an idea of how they might look on some modified ILXs.

The first image is the cleanest, incorporating the Jewel Eyes, chrome trim, and an LED strip similar to the ILX Concept. The second render is a bit more aggressive with Mugen Accord accessories bolted on. Lastly, we see an ILX with some lower bumper work and the adoption of an Acura SUV-X style grille.

Edmunds.com Renders the 2015 Acura ILX Coupe

Today Edmunds.com presented a very Civic-looking, yet sharp rendering of what a future ILX Coupe would look like, and in the same breath announced that it’s unlikely that Acura will ever build such a model. Edmunds.com says Honda previously hinted at a coupe variant, but with sales numbers not quite where they should be, Edmunds now thinks the addition of a coupe is “less likely”.

We’ve heard the 2014 ILX will come with some nice upgrades, hopefully it’s enough for a huge sales boost.
